Dates & Location Announced
Classical:NEXT 2013 Moves to Vienna

We are delighted to announce the dates and location for Classical:NEXT 2013 today. The second edition of Classical:NEXT will take place from 29 May until 1 June 2013 in Vienna, Austria. After an overwhelmingly successful premiere this spring, the new professional forum for classical music is thus set to become the annual meeting point for the classical music scene.
The main reason for a change of location is due to the high demand at the first Classical:NEXT in Munich, which called for increased capacity much earlier than foreseen. The debut’s registration numbers were more than double what was expected – over 700 delegates from 40 countries came to Munich this May – and 2013 is looking to be even bigger. Jennifer Dautermann, director of Classical:NEXT comments:
“We regret leaving Munich after a great first year. We had a positive and promising start to the project here. Because of the overwhelming success, we had to reconsider the location on short notice to find the best solution for our delegates and an expanded Classical:NEXT. With Vienna we managed this – even keeping the same dates. Our Austrian partners and the locations in the classical music and trade fair capital, Vienna, offer ideal conditions.”
At the MAK Vienna with new partners
The new venue for the Classical:NEXT exhibition and conference spaces will be the MAK, the Austrian Museum of Applied Arts / Contemporary Art, in Vienna. The Showcase concerts will be held at nearby theatres.
Berlin based company piranha womex continues to produce the event. New hosts and local partners are Mario Rossori, general manager of Preiser Records and Rossori Music & Event, co-founder of the AMADEUS Austrian Music Awards and head of the Austrian umbrella stand at MIDEM and Popkomm; Heinrich Schläfer, sound engineer and organizer of the Austrian stands at WOMEX and jazzahead! and Frank Stahmer, who among others organized of the European Composers Congress and the ARTMUSFAIR.
In addition, the Vienna based IMZ - International Music + Media Centre that curated the film screenings for Classical:NEXT 2012 in Munich, has indicated their will to co-operate with Classical:NEXT again.
Classical professionals join forces - additional focus on arts presenters and overseas
For the upcoming edition, Classical:NEXT is aiming to extend its focus to include the live sector and important non-European regions. “We want to make best use of the momentum we've created. Our long-term goal is that classical music professionals worldwide join forces, on site at Classical:NEXT, and ultimately through the web and through new, globally networked projects” Jennifer Dautermann said.
Call for proposals - Deadline on 2 November 2012
The bulk of the program of Classical: NEXT 2013 will be selected by an international jury from worldwide proposal submissions. The call for proposals is open until the 2nd of November 2012. Professionals from all areas of the classical scene are encouraged to put forward a conference paper. Artists and producers can apply for live showcase concerts and video presentations.
