ASTORIA has the special feature of performing exclusively Astor PIAZZOLLA’s master work, adapted and transcribed by accordionist Christophe DELPORTE.
As an ensemble with a varied combination of four to eight musicians, all graduated from Royal Conservatories and laureates of international contests, ASTORIA imposes their own identity through the energy, the rigor and the emotion they express in their interpretation.
By highlighting the Argentine master’s genius, ASTORIA preserves the rhythmical and melodic enchantment of the original scores.
The classical “quatuor” will let you discover jewels like Tanti anni prima, Adios nonino, Oblibion .. Marc Grauwels will lead you the “Histoire du tango”, dedicated to him by the Argentine master himself; he’ll also propose you an unpublished arrangement of the double concerto called “Hommage à Liège”.
Jennifer SCAVUZZO’s exquisite voice will perform Piazzolla’s greatest songs and finally, in ASTORIA NUEVO CONCERT, a couple of dancers, Monika & Dante DOMINGUEZ , let themselves driven by PIAZZOLLA’s sensuality in a ballet where seduction and nostalgy go along together.
Since its creation in 2004 ASTORIA has been performing PIAZZOLLA’s works on the greatest stages in Belgium and abroad, taking part to various festivals such as the Brussels Summer Festival, “Frameries Jazz”, “Printemps Musical de Silly”, Basilica Festival van Vlaanderen, BUGARI festival, Musiq’3 Festival, Festival de castelfidardo (Italy) or international Cyclades Festival (Greece).
In January 2015 ASTORIA released their 5th album (In the Mood for Movies, Fuga Libéra – Outhere Music)
ASTORIA participated several times to the LIVE program “Le Monde est un Village” (RTBF) and in 2013 the Ensemble was invited to “Vivement Dimanche”, presented by Michel Drucker on France 2.
Through their lively thrilling music, which evokes love, hope, suffering and melancholy, ASTORIA will lead you from the suburbs of Buenos Aires to the hot lands of the tropical flora.
