The musical sensitivity of Kiev Portella is supported at all times by the desire to continuously transmit the feelings he feels on the stage.
His is not a conventional career, he began to study piano at age 12 and from the beginning he was already clear that the piano would be the friend that would accompany him for the rest of his life. From the beginning it has been a brilliant career, at the age of 18 he was already presenting himself as a soloist with the Balearic Symphony Orchestra in the Auditorium of Palma de Mallorca for more than 1700 people and since then he has been invited to act together with this and many others Orchestras and directors of the country or foreigners.
He has played in different countries of Europe and although he has been invited several times to play in the US and Mexico due to reasons of force majeure has never come to fruition.
He is the winner of several National and International awards and is also a regular collaborator of renowned musicians in chamber music.
He has recorded for television and radio, as well as a cd called "Llevant" that reflects already a great musical maturity and that was born in Basel (Switzerland) when he was 26 years old.
He is a juror member of several international contests as well as founding member of the Foundation Frederic Mompou in Barcelona.
He has premiered worldwide works by composers Abraham Tena, Miguel Farías (Chile) and Wei Zhigong (Shanghai). Peregrí Portolés and Abraham Tena have dedicated on more than one occasion some of his works.
He is not a typical pianist and is not interested in mechanical perfection. Kiev Portella uses music as a necessary tool to make this world a more humane world. Since 2007 he combines classical music with "new age" music and also soundtracks. For him there is no classical music and light music, but there is only good music and not so good, and therefore his job is to find the one that helps him to give this hopeful message of peace in a society increasingly lost in Globalization and agglomeration of information.
