Massimo Carrieri is born in Martina Franca (Apulia, Italy). He started music study at the age of 6, attending private piano lessons. After getting the high school diploma he moved to Milan admitted to the “G.Verdi” Conservatory. He graduated with full marks in pipe organ (professor Giancarlo Parodi) and in jazz music. In the meantime, he studied music composition with Gianni Possio and Marco Tutino. In 2003 he won a scholarship that allowed him to attend courses and seminars both in Italy and abroad:
- Filmscoring course at the Chigiana Academy in Siena with professor Luis Bacalov.
- Arrangement and orchestration training with professor Renato Serio, Sanremo Festival and Forum Music Village in Rome.
- Academic semester at the Berklee College of Music in Boston (USA) Filmscoring department (included in the Dean’s List 2004, an honorary list of the Berklee students with highest merits).
Since the beginning, he developed his professional career both as a performer and as an eclectic composer, stimulated by wide and diversified music interests, ranging also outside of the typically “classical” fields. He worked as organist and pianist with several italian orchestras including: “G. Cantelli” Orchestra in Milan, the “Italian International Orchestra”, the “Pavia City Orchestra”, Festival della Valle d’Itria. He gives concerts as soloist and with other ensemble, collaborating with musicians such as Gianluigi Trovesi, Achille Succi, Oscar del Barba, Roberta Mameli, Luca de Muro (cellist), the australians musicians Phil Rex (cb) and Sam Bates (dr), Chris Marianetti (NY), the english singer Julia St. Louis and Luca Dirisio.
His compositions have been performed by artists such as Antonella Ruggero, Cristina Zavalloni, Armando Ariostini, the jazz pianist Nico Morelli, by orchestras such as “I Pomeriggi Musicali” and “G. Cantelli” in Milan, the Wind Orchestra of the Italian Air Force and by the conductors Alessandro Ferrari, Ermir Krantja and Alberto Veronesi.
He composes music for theatre shows, some of these were written and directed by the italian screenwriter Donato Carrisi. He write also arrangements for TV formats and recording projects.
In October 2007 he presented "Seven", first recording project including original compositions for piano. Since the beginning, this first album captured the press’ attention, presenting him in a new role as a composer / performer. A project which marks the beginning of a new artistic path that will bring him to the international debut in New York, on April 2009, with a concert at the "Renee Weiler" Concert Hall, followed by a tour in Australia .

Back to Italy after a long stay in the U.S and he begins to work on the project called "Zahir", a new album produced by EFFE Music label and distributed by Family Affair.
