Het Collectief

Several top musicians explore the influence of Central European folk music on Franz Liszt and some of the 20th century’s greatest composers. Pianist Levente Kende - who is performing Bartók’s complete piano works this season, spread over three concerts in deSingel (Antwerp), the Handelsbeurs (Ghent) and Concertgebouw Brugge – performs Bartók’s most folk-inspired keyboard works. Het Collectief perform Hungarian chamber music from Bartók, Liszt and Kodály to Ligeti, Kurtág and Eötvös. And finally, the Kalotaszeg Trio - who take their name from the Transylvanian region where Bartók recorded a lot of folk music - play Hungarian and Romanian works and gypsy music. All day long the Concertgebouw will be bathed in the atmosphere and spirit of Central Europe.
