Rudolph Tang is a freelance music journalist and founder of KLASSIKOM, a performing arts think tank based in Shanghai. He has covered classical music and opera since 1999 for various publications including Musical America, das Orchester, FT Chinese, GQ, Auditorium magazine, as well as a fine selection of Chinese newspapers. His latest book The Many Faces of Musicians in China, a collection of music criticism and journalism since 2005, was published by Beijing Normal University Press in September 2014. As a jury member of MIDEM Classical Awards and panelist of Classical: Next, he has previously taken press and business trips to over 70 cities in 26 countries and regions for concert reviews. An English major by profession and music critic by will, he divides his time between Shanghai and Beijing, spending the rest of the year in Europe. His motto is "Critical maybe, boring never."
