Germany's premier intercultural radio station Funkhaus Europa - friends of WOMEX and us all - have been threatened with a devastating reformation which would include the scrapping of all music programming. This would be a massive blow to world music in Germany, and a petition has been set up to encourage the station's parent company, WDR, to take back this proposal.
This petition has reached a whopping 22,000 signatures, and today - 7 March - the institutional body of WDR are meeting to decide these final cuts. We hope the make the right decision for world music, radio and the listening public and keep world music on Funkhaus Europa!
Thank you very much for all WOMEXicans who have helped the petition reach the numbers it has.
