It is carnival season in many places in the world - be it in Trinidad, Brazil, Italy, Louisiana (Mardi-Gras today!) or Guinea-Bissau (not in China though, where they celebrate New Year instead).
WOMEX organisers Piranha Arts however will have their very special carnaval/carnival/Karneval experience in Berlin in May this year - Piranha is confirmed as the official operator of the "Karneval der Kulturen".
Berlin's 4-day intercultural street fest and street parade with over 1.5 million visitors is finally saved as the House of Representatives of Berlin approved the funding for Karneval der Kulturen 2016. Piranha has always been connected to the Karneval – whether it be Piranha’s founder as one of the original conceptualisers and Piranha’s CEO as an active musician since the beginning or the organisation of Karneval CDs and traditional after-parade parties by Piranha.
The Karneval team, their groups and Piranha are looking forward to continue the work of bringing the diversity of Berlin alive again for another year – through music, dance and enjoyment on 13 - 16 May 2016.
