company descriptionRelevant Tones is a radio program dedicated to the most fascinating time in classical music history: right now.
With composers, men and women, from nearly every country in the world writing exciting, dynamic new pieces, classical music has never been as global and diverse as it is right now.
It is this legacy that we celebrate every week on stations in more than a hundred cities around the United States, Canada, the Philippines and New Zealand.
Through a recurring feature called In the Field, host Seth Boustead travels the globe to interview composers about their music, attend concerts and other performances and bring their music to an international audience. Combining travelogue with down to earth interviews and live performances of new music, In the Field is a consistently popular feature.
Previous In the Field episodes have featured composers from South Korea, Finland, Mexico, Colombia, Poland and China and the list keeps growing. In the Field is a media sponsor of the World Music Days Festival and has been invited to cover numerous festivals around the world.
Relevant Tones also frequently produces innovative concerts for live broadcast including at National Sawdust in Brooklyn, a series in Chicago rock club the Empty Bottle and several live broadcasts from City Winery.
Relevant Tones is a 2016 winner of ASCAP's coveted Deems Taylor Award for Broadcast Excellence.
