The remarkably versatile career of violinist and composer Jyotsna Srikanth continues apace. She was brought up in Bangalore in southern India and was trained in the Carnatic classical music tradition from an early age. Later she studied Western classical music and played on hundreds of Bollywood film soundtracks before moving to London. Since then she has proven herself an indefatigable ambassador for Carnatic music, performing in major concert venues around the world. She is also enthusiastic in her experiments with Indian contemporary jazz-fusion and an array of innovative collaborations across the genres from Irish and Scandinavian folk to flamenco, fado, jazz and electronica in her Jyotsna Srikanth Project. Outside of performance, Srikanth is the founder of Dhruv Arts, a non-profit body promoting music education in East London, and curator of the London International Arts Festival.
