Guillermo Bocanegra (Colombia, 1977) is a classically-trained guitarrist whose interests in musical interpretation, music experimetation, improvisation and contemporary music, have lead him to give numerous shows throughout Latin America and the Caribbean,the United States, Netherlands and Japan. Bocanegra has recorded several solo records “La otra guitarra” (The other guitar), “La tradición se rompe” (The tradition breakes), “Círculo de tierra roja” (Circle of red soil). He is also a member of the Trip Trip Trip Guitar Trio, and the CG Ensamble, and participated in several collective recording projects with thes groups, as soloist and chamber musician, among them the remarkable "Trip Trip Trip 2012" and "Música Onejitiva" CG Ensamble. Bocanegra has recieved numerous awards, both at home and abroad including the "Itinerant Calls" (Colombia 2010), and the Colombian Residence (México, 2011). At the present Bocanegra is Professor in the Arts Faculty at Francisco José de Caldas University, Colombia, where he serves as director of the Department of Musical Arts (2010-2012) and the Chair at Acoustic Guitar Area since 2008. Bocanegra received his bachelor degree in Music with a speciality in classical guitar, in the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana of Bogotá, Bogotá Colombia 2002 and Masters degree in composition and guitar in the CEAMC, Center of Advanced Studies in Contemporary Music, Buenos Aires Argentina 2005.
