Back to the 1780's! If it sounded good back then, why not today?
Almost 300 years ago, some musicians from around Antwerp, Brussels, Gent and Leuven decided to write down their favourite music. As time passed, however, the paper turned yellow, the ink began to fade, and the music itself was left to gather dust along with the faded manuscripts …
Until now! With their finely textured arrangements WÖR injects new energy into 18th-century tunes from the Flanders region of Belgium. Their music shines an inventive spotlight, with a modern twist, on tunes from these manuscripts.
WÖR toured both in Europe, USA, Canada and Australia (including at the Shetland Folk Festival, Dranouter Festival, Sunfest, the National Folk Festival..) .
Esko Järvela (Frigg,.., producer of their latest album (Sssht) about the band: "WÖR is an organ full of fresh thoughts and joy. Five ambitious musicians with a clear vision of the essence of traditional Belgian music. Five sweet rascals with a strong grip and a fearless approach to what they do together. They’re constantly looking for new paths to explore the music without forgetting their roots. WÖR is crispy and dynamic, full of excitement. WÖR is powerful."
