Born in Rio de Janeiro, the twin brothers Paulo e Ricardo Santoro come from a musicians family. Celebrated by the audience and the specialized critic for this touching performances, Duo Santoro has been praised by the newspapers as the best Brazilian cello duo.
Since 1990 Duo Santoro has been performing in the main concert halls in Brazil. His concerts include a wide range of styles, from the classical to popular, passing by classic, romantic and modern. The musicians themselves sign the transcriptions and arrangements, mostly.
One of the main goals of Duo Santoro is to publicize Brazilian Music. For this, they work with several composers and has been performing the world premiere of a vast number of pieces. João G. Ripper, E. Villani Côrtes, N. Hollanda Cavalcanti, S. Di Sabbato, J. A. Kaplan, Ricardo Medeiros, Teresa Fagundes, Santino Parpinelli, V. Szpilman, Sergio Roberto de Oliveira, Alexandre Schubert, Neder Nassaro, Orlando Alves, Caio Senna, Marcos Lucas and Carlos Cruz are some of the composers that had write for the Duo.
Recognized by prizes such as “Gold Medal”, “Sliver Medal” and “Cultural Personality of the year”, Duo Santoro is also an audience success, with one of the best audiences among Brazilian chamber ensembles.
They celebrated their 20 years with a Brazilian tour and concerts in Carnegie Hall, among other halls.
In 2013 they released the CD “Bem Brasileiro” (A Casa Discos), with great critics and reverberation in Brazil, with the first issue sold out in 6 months.
