Antonio Tinelli has been defined by international critics with expressions such as "in a word, superbly" (Fanfare Magazine USA), "perfect musicality" (Musica Magazine), "masterfully interpretation" (The Clarinet USA), "admirable coherence, a whole warm, rich and very charming sound" (Journal of Music).
Born in Switzerland, he graduated with honors at the Music Conservatory of Monopoli (Bari, Italy), and he obtained the clarinet and chamber music Advanced-Level Diploma at the Superior Academy of Pescara (Italy) and the Honor Diploma at the Summer Academy in Germany and France.
Musicians who added a significant contribution to his artistic development are Angelo Clemente, Romeo Tudorache and Karl Leister.
Winner of over thirty prizes in important national and international soloist and chamber music competitions such as: International Music Competition of Stresa, National Woodwind Competition of Genova, Clarinet Competition of Roma, FMEM of Geneva, International Competition "The Clarinet in the '900" of Perugia, National Clarinet Competition "A. Ponchielli" of Cremona, National Clarinet Competition "G. Puccini" of Camerota (Sa), International Chamber Music Competition of Pinerolo (Torino), International Duo Competition "City of Pavia", International Competition "Riviera del Conero" of Ancona, International Duo Competition "City of Gubbio", International "Provincia di Caltanissetta" Competition of Musical Performance, International Chamber Music Competition of Trapani (the only woodwind duo to win a prize).
As an artist, he has performed in concerts held in Italy, Hungary, Germany, Albania, France, Romania, Spain, Arab Emirates, Czech Republic, Turkey, China, Finland and USA.
As a soloist, he has collaborated with various orchestras among which the Orchestra Sinfonica della Provincia di Bari, the Kiev RTV Festival Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra "George Enescu" of Bucarest, the Orchestra Internazionale d'Italia, the Orchestra Milano Classica and the Orchestra of the Bologna Theater. His artistic collaboration with Karl Leister, Fabio Bidini, Pierluigi Camicia, Yuri Gandelsman, Riccardo Ceni, Ivano Battiston, Alexander Perpich and Fabio Di Casola is remarkable. In 2012 he inaugurated with a Recital the prestigious international convention "ClarinetFest (r)" in the Lied Center for the Performing Arts in Lincoln, Nebraska USA and was a member of the jury ICA Young Artist Competition and I.C.A. High School Solo Competition.
Tinelli has been actively involved in the recording activity. He has recorded for the National Radio of Bucarest (Romania), RAI (Italy), Deutsche Suedwestfunk (Germany), TVR 1 Bucarest (Romania), TV Dubai (U.A.E.), News 24 (Albania) and some CD with first world recordings. The CD "Clarinet and Piano in the Italian '900" (with music from N. Rota, R. Gervasio, R. Malipiero and Castelnuovo-Tedesco), the CD "Saverio Mercadante" (Clarinet Concerto op.101 and Concertone), the CD "Raffaele Gervasio Chamber Music for Clarinet", the CD "Sergio Calligaris Rigor y Pasion", the CD "Raffaele Gervasio Rapsodia su Canti di Puglia" and the CD "Johannes Brahms" (Sonate op.120 n.1 & n.2 and Trio op.114) released by Phoenix Classics which received favourable reviews by specialist critics (Suonare News, Music Journal, The Clarinet, Fanfare Magazine) and was broadcast by National Radio (Radio RAI3, Radio Vaticana, Radio Muza Georgia). In 2012 is released by Camerata Tokyo a CD in trio with Karl Leister and Giuliano Mazzoccante, the only one title dedicated to this chamber music combination with Karl Leister.
A Professor of clarinet in the Music Conservatory "E.R. Duni" of Matera, he also holds numerous master classes and he is additionally the Artistic Director of various musical organizations like the International Clarinet Competition "Saverio Mercadante".
Antonio Tinelli plays Selmer clarinets and he is endorser of Rico Reeds and Pomarico Mouthpiece.
