The year was 1994 and these great and now well-established names in the world of jazz were right at the beginning of their vast musical careers. This was Jazz Furniture’s sole recording, and part of that year’s “Jazz in Sweden” award. In close collaboration with musician Jonas Kullhammar (executive producer for this project) Caprice now release this milestone of an album as a luxurious 180g double vinyl set.
When we asked saxophone player Jonas Kullhammar to dive into Caprice Records’e great catalog to select some gems to rerelease, it didn’t take long for him to decide upon Jazz Furniture – a record that has meant a lot to him and his evolution as a musician. In Jonas Kullhammar’s own words:
”I can hardly think of another Swedish lineup where each and everyone have ended up playing such an important role in Swedish jazz history! I still, to this day, remember hearing them at Sergels Torg during the Stockholm Water Festival, and ever since then I can’t even count the hours I have spent listening to, and being influenced by these musicians. They have all, together and individually, changed the scene, and words can’t really describe their importance.
Great music, by great musicians, also sounding great (sound wizard Åke Linton did this recording!)
I am envious of all of you who get to hear it for the first time!”
