Sonia Genú is a musician graduated in voice and piano at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Graduaded with a gold medal in voice, she also won the first price in her Master Vocal Course. She has been described by critics as one of the most expressive vocalists of her generation. Sonia Genú debuted in 1986, in the role of Cherubino, in the opera "Nozze di Figaro" by Mozart. She followed her career as solist acting in different operas, oratoria and biennales of contemporary music in important concert halls of her country. In The Netherlands, Sonia Genú develops intense activities as vocal teacher and as concert performer. In Europe she created the project "A Canção Brasileira" which has as principal aim the divulgation of vocal works of Brazilian classical composers.
