The Orquestra e Banda Sinfónica de Jovens de Santa Maria Da Feira, Aveiro, Portugal, is an artistic and cultural organisation currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, developing its excellence in classical music both as a training institution and breeding ground for talents, as well as in live concerts of the highest level in Portugal and Europe.
He has shown his great mastery on stages in France (Joué-Lès-Tours), Spain (concerts in Alicante, Ocãna, Aranjuez, Valencia: 2nd Prize in the 2nd Section of the Certamen Internacional de Bandas de Música "Ciudad de Valencia", Altea: 1st Prize in the Symphonic Section of the Certamen Internacional de Bandas de Música Vila d'Altea), Italy (Alessandria, Genoa, Asti, Rome, Pontedera Festival "7Sois 7Moons"), Bulgaria (Targovishte, twinning with the Symphonic Band), Germany (Erbach and Aalen), among others.
As a musical project, the Symphonic Orchestra and Youth Band of Santa Maria da Feira, has counted since its beginnings with the formative experience of prestigious international orchestra directors: Carlos Fontes, Leonardo Barros, Ivo Cruz, Sokhiev Tugan, Joana Carneiro, Cesário Costa, Ernest Schelle, José Pascual Vilaplana, Jan Cober, António Saiote, Teodoro Aparício Barberán, Rafael Garrigos, António Saiote, Osvaldo Ferreira, Henrie Adams.
In 1996, the Orquestra e Banda Sinfónica de Jovens was born, in a collaborative effort between the official music schools: Conservatory of Music of Fornos, Music Academies of Santa Maria da Feira and Paços de Brandão, Philharmonic Bands of the municipality and the City Council of Santa Maria Da Feira, Portugal, seeking the musical and artistic development of the region.
Currently under the artistic direction of Maestro Paulo Martins, the Orquestra e Banda has achieved, due to its artistic quality, the support of important governmental institutions in Portugal: the Ministry of Culture, the General Direction of the Arts, and the Municipal Chamber of Santa Maria da Feira.
