Patricia Martinez (Argentina) is composer, pianist and interdisciplinary artist. Internationally awarded artist for over 20 years, recently winner of the Casa de las Américas Prize (Cuba), Ibermúsicas-Iberescena (Ibero-America) and selected composer at The Contemporary Musical Theater Competition (Darmstadt, Germany).
Her works has emerged, in part, from an experimental process of 'stripping-down,' which involves a degree of risk-taking, in that the resulting music is left somewhat vulnerable in terms of its expressive identity. Her influences have roots in contemporary music, echoes of pre-Baroque early music, and the furious energy of experimental rock. Her works expand the limits of sound on stage, including dance, video art, musical theater and real time digital processing, building interdisciplinary projects, beyond closed classifications.
Her works went on stage in major concert halls and festivals such as The Palace of Fine Arts, Julio Castillo Theatre (Mexico DF), Experimentation Center of the Colón Theatre (CETC), Fusion Festival (Costa Rica), Stanford University, Highway Performance Space (CA), MATA Festival, NYCEMF (NY), Bourges Festival, Instant Chavirès (France), among others.
She got a Doctoral and a Master degree at Stanford University and postgraduate in Computer music at The Ircam in Paris.
