Josu Okiñena´s professional activity is dedicated to research and performance, and is based on scientific activity from a transdisciplinary approach.
With his latest album, the acclaimed ‘Xuxurlak’, Okiñena brings to fruition a research project on Basque musical heritage: 25 songs recorded from original manuscripts recovered in recent years and promoted around the world by Okiñena with an international tour through the United States of America and the Southern Cone of Latin America and Europe. Last July, he performed at the Carnegie Hall in New York and other renowned venues in cities such as Tokyo, Santiago de Chile, Montevideo and Rome, amongst others. His next album for Sony Classical with works by Franz Liszt, is scheduled for 2019.
