Co-ordinated by Andrew Burke (UK), chief executive & artistic director, London Sinfonietta
The conversation about orchestras is often dominated by the big beasts of the symphony orchestras. But what about smaller, freelance ensembles? What value do they bring to the orchestral ecology? From period instruments to contemporary music, do they refresh the parts that the symphony orchestras cannot reach? And how can they get better at connecting across Europe and globally, to seed co- production and collaboration? Hosted jointly by the ABO (Association of British Orchestras) and FEVIS (Fédération des Ensembles Vocaux et Instrumentaux Spécialisés), this interactive session will help create a European and global network of chamber orchestras and freelance ensembles.
