Violinist and composer Layale Chaker's project Inner Rhyme is woven as a suite that explores aesthetics of Arabic poetry. Composed between Beirut, Paris and London and recorded in New York, it unveils musical threads that are mapped through the rhythmical cycles of the 12 classical Arabic poetic metres, the fluidity of oral and free forms, the abstraction of language into the physical contour of verses and the percussive potential of words. Beyond expression, the composition process tries to capture the shape and essence of epic testimonials on life, death, war and love that make the heart of Arabic poetry. The album of this project was released on In a Circle Records and listed as ‘Top of the World’ by Songlines with a 5-star review, rated #2 on NPR 10 Best Releases, #1 for several weeks on the World Charts of iTunes and Amazon Music and has received praises by the BBC Music Magazine, The New York Times, The Strad, Strings Magazine, and Jazz World among others.
