Dutch vocal ensemble consisting of five female singers
Five singers who want to do more than just sing: that is Wishful Singing. Five classically trained female singers combine a cappella singing, a convincing story and theatrical performance at the very highest level – in their own unique way.
The five singers met in the Netherlands Youth Choir and decided to continue together in female a cappella repertoire; a relatively rare genre very dear to the hearts of all five. The top quality displayed since by Wishful Singing – both aurally and visually – makes the ensemble unique in the world.
Wishful Singing regularly perform in Dutch concert halls such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. There are also regular tours abroad, including Japan, China, the USA, Germany, Spain, Estonia and Italy. Their repertoire ranges from works from the Renaissance and Baroque eras to folk music and close harmony.
The ensemble is actively working to expand the female a cappella repertoire by frequently commissioning compositions. In addition the ensemble collaborates often, and in many different contexts, with other musicians, artists and young talent.
