"The goal of Classical:NEXT is to provide a platform that the classical and art music community can use to map out our common future collaboratively and from the ground up. Accordingly, Classical:NEXT itself will continue to evolve in line with the genre's needs. We are very pleased with what is in store for next year and are looking forward to sharing the news over the coming months."

Jennifer Dautermann, Director Classical:NEXT

Location and Stand Booking

This year's expo will be held at de Doelen Concert Hall and International Congress Centre in the heart of Rotterdam, with the renowned de Doelen team acting as Classical:NEXT's local partner in 2015. Those looking to take part as an exhibitor are urged to book soon. Stands at the Classical:NEXT expo habitually sell out early and organisers have already fielded numerous requests.

Resolutely Future Oriented – New Formats to Come in 2015

Classical:NEXT 2015 will see the return of the successful Live Showcase concerts as well as the vibrant Conference including Video Showcases introducing upcoming projects and talent. In addition, as Director Jennifer Dautermann confirms, there will be one or two new elements to help strengthen the international classical network and improve information exchange about innovative work taking place around the world:

Survey - Metadata and Classical Music

If metadata is your issue we hereby kindly ask you to participate in a little survey the Classical:NEXT conference is currently making.

The right meta-information is crucial to find or be found in the digital galaxy. In this regard, classical music has a difficult stand and special needs with many more categories than just "title" and "artist" not to mention the multitude of interpretations and re-interpretations of traditional works.

All you have to do is to answer the following four questions by sending an email to:

  1. Why is metadata important for the future of classical music?
  2. What are the problems we currently witness in the scene regarding metadata? And who is suffering from these shortcomings?
  3. What are solutions to solve these metadata problems?
  4. Which stakeholders would need to work together to address these issues and make a solution reality.

We thank you kindly for your participation.
