Session 5 :
Presented by Rob Harris (UK), Director, Arup, Arts & Culture Business Leader, UKMEA
Can we afford more of the kinds of music venues we have built in the past? What is sustainable fiscally, environmentally and programmatically? If we can afford them, will they attract audiences (and performers) and provide the ever-evolving experiences that people expect? Concentrating on the next generation of concert attendees, this talk will mainly examine the physical facilities and buildings that we need and how these relate to a comprehensive (physical and digital) experience. Rob will suggest that the need for such an experience is not primarily passive, as it is at present, but rather interactive and participatory.
